Coffee Recipes

 Equipment Required: Espresso Machine

Americano

  1.  Follow the recipe for an Espresso (See below), you'll need a double shot.
  2. Pour into a warmed cup the double shot of expresso
  3. Carefully add boiling water to the double espresso to desired level. (There is no definitive ratio of espresso to water, but start with one part espresso to four parts boiling water)

Breve

  1.  Follow the recipe for an Espresso (See below).
  2. Mix 60ml of milk with 60ml of single cream
  3. Pour the espresso into a medium sized warmed glass.
  4. Steam the milk/Cream to approximately 60-65 degrees.
  5. Pour the steamed Milk/Cream into the Warmed glass over the espresso and allow the Crema and foam to combine.

Cappuccino

  1. Follow the recipe for an Espresso (See below).
  2. Pour 130-150ml of milk into your pitcher and steam to approximately 60-65 degrees.
  3. Add the Espresso to your warmed cup and pour the steamed milk onto the espresso whilst keeping an area of Crema around the rim of the cup. you will want to aim for about 1 cm layer of foam.
  4. Using a shaker, sprinkle cocoa or cinnamon powder.

Cortado

  1. Follow the recipe for an Espresso (See below).
  2. Pour the espresso into a medium sized warmed glass.
  3. Add 40ml of milk into your pitcher and steam to approximately 60-65 degrees.
  4. As this is a 1:1 Ratio (Coffee to Milk) you will want to put an even amount of milk to the espresso with the least amount of foam as possible.

Espresso

  1. Pour between 16-20 grams of Fine ground Coffee into your Portafilter and tap on counter to level.
  2. Using a tamper press down on the Coffee to create a solid even puck of Coffee that will be able to withstand the pressure and allow the water to flow through and extract the coffee evenly.
  3. Insert your Portafilter into your machine
  4. Place a Warmed (With Hot water) Espresso cup (or cups if you wish to split the shot into two singles) under the spouts of the Portafilter.
  5. Activate upper machine to brew. After 5-8 Seconds your coffee should start dripping then flowing into your warmed cups.
  6. You should run your machine until you have extracted approximately 20-25 seconds collecting 40ml of Espresso in each cup including crema.
